We are at the SMRI conference in Wilhelmshaven

From 27 to 30 April 2025, the spring conference of the Solution Mining Research Institute (SMRI) will take place in Wilhelmshaven to mark its 60th anniversary.

Management change at ESK GmbH: Andrea Wobito becomes technical director

ESK GmbH appoints Andrea Wobito as the new Technical Managing Director. From 1 April 2025, she will assume responsibility for the technical areas of the company, succeeding Kai Janßen, who is moving to E.ON Energy Solutions GmbH.

HyPSTER – Hydrogen in cavern, test operation is ongoing

HyPSTER, the first renewable hydrogen storage demonstrator in a salt cavern located in Etrez (France), is entering its operational phase. On the 3rd of October 2024, the first hydrogen molecules were injected into the EZ53 salt cavern. Since then, test operations have been running on pure hydrogen. A decisive step for this project, supported by the European Union’s Clean Hydrogen Partnership.

Groundbreaking ceremony in Frankfurt am Main, Germany

On 14th August 2024, the ground-breaking ceremony for the first construction phase of the pilot project “renewal of the electricity grid” took place in the Dornbusch city district of Frankfurt/Main, Germany. Over a project period of 2 years, approximately 2.5 km of low- and medium-voltage cables, street lighting, network distributors and a station will be replaced.

Technical expert’s activity based on our software bohris.cloud

We expanded our service portfolio with a technical expert service for well integrity assessment of deep wells according to BVOT, Mining Ordinance for Deep Drilling, Underground Storage and the Extraction of Mineral Resources by Drilling in the State of Lower Saxony. With our software tool bohris.cloud, accredited technical experts are able to assess the well integrity of existing wells, the well planning and to monitor well and workover activities. First expert reports have already been successfully completed and are submitted to the mining authority.

EU project FrHyGe 

On 20 March 2024, the European consortium met for the official launch of the FrHyGe* project, supported and funded by the European Union through the Clean Hydrogen Partnership. This 43 M€ project aims to validate the underground storage of hydrogen in salt caverns on an industrial scale.
