The protection of your personal data is of high importance to ESK GmbH. We operate our data processing activities in accordance with the laws on data protection (in particular the General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR and the German Federal Data Protection Act, Bundesdatenschutzgesetz, BDSG) and on data security. This data protection information tells you what information we process about you.

Provision of the website and log files

Every time our website is accessed, data and information is collected by an automated system. These are stored in the so-called log files. This refers to files in which processes running on a computer or network system are logged.

The processing of this information serves to protect against or trace hacker and cyber-attacks, to ensure the functionality of our information technology systems, and to ensure and improve the functionality of the websites.

Essentially, the following data is collected as part of the operation of our website:

• IP address
• Domain name of the previously visited website
• Web pages that you have visited on our website
• Names of the retrieved files
• Date and time
• Name of your internet service provider
• If applicable, operating system and browser version of your device
• Language settings

The personal data will be deleted or anonymized after 7 days at the latest, unless we are legally obligated to retain it or the retention is permitted due to a legal reasons.

About cookies, scripts and other content

We do not use a so-called "cookie banner" on our website. For this reason, the website works as data-minimizing as possible and largely without the need to obtain consent. Instead, we ask you for your consent in specific individual cases, for example if it is necessary to load third-party content such as videos or maps.

We use different technologies to operate the website securely and to enable you to visit the website comfortably. On the one hand, when you visit our website, data is stored or read in so-called "cookies" and in the local storage of your browser (hereinafter collectively referred to as "cookies") on your device. Our websites (and emails sent) can also contain small, transparent image files, so-called "pixels", to determine how you interact with them.

Last but not least, dynamic lines of code ("scripts") can also be used on our website, and content such as maps or videos from other providers can be embedded.

Please note that technically required, so-called "essential" technologies must be activated and cookies set in order to enable core functionality, secure and sustainable operation of the website and audience measurement.

We would like to point out that in such cases you may not be able to use all the functions of the website or that it may not be possible to display the website at all.

Contact form

In the context of contact inquiries, such as via our contact forms, by telephone or e-mail, you may voluntarily provide us with your personal data or information. We generally use this personal data to answer your inquiries, process your order, clarify queries, or provide you with access to special information or offers.

Online portals

If you wish, you can also provide us with personal data via services that are integrated into our online portals, for example for creating user accounts. For the use of these services, information deviating from this data protection information may apply. We will point this out to you explicitly in the context of additional data protection information.

Minors and children

In principle, our website is not aimed at minors or children. In any case, we will not knowingly collect personal data from minors or children, use it in any way, or disclose it to third parties without authorization.

Links to other websites

Our websites contain links to other websites. We are not responsible for the data protection strategies or the content of those websites.

Data recipients, service providers, data transfer to third countries

For the purposes mentioned, ESK also has certain services performed by carefully selected and commissioned service providers, for example, IT service providers. ESK contractually obligates contracted service providers to comply with data protection and security requirements. As part of the provision of services, service providers or sub-service providers based in a third country also process personal data. The third-country transfer is carried out in compliance with the data protection requirements of the EU and national law, for example on the basis of an adequacy decision or suitable guarantees, e.g. EU standard contractual clauses. You have the possibility to request further information at any time as well as to receive copies of the relevant guarantees.

Further data recipients may be public authorities, e.g. police, public prosecutor's office, financial authorities, supervisory authorities and, in justified cases, also other commissioned third parties within the scope of their commissioning, respectively lawyers or auditors.

Your rights

Upon request, we will be happy to provide you with information as to whether and which of your personal data is stored at ESK and to whom we may have passed it on. In accordance with the statutory provisions, you can assert the following additional rights: rectification, erasure, restriction of processing (blocking for specific purposes), data portability.

In addition, you may object to the processing of your personal data for reasons arising from your particular situation, in particular for purposes of direct marketing, market, and opinion research.

If you have given your consent, you can revoke it at any time with effect for the future.

We process and store your data only as long as we need them to fulfill the specific purpose and delete or anonymize them after expiry of legal or contractual retention periods.

You have the right to address any questions or complaints to a supervisory authority, in particular in the Member State of your habitual residence, your place of work or the place of the alleged infringement. The supervisory authority responsible for ESK is the Data Protection Supervisory Authority of the State of Nordrhein-Westfalen. You can get detailed information at www.ldi.nrw.de.
