Proven software solutions increase efficiency
Project engineering and technical management are closely integrated to serve as the basis for the development of specialised IT and computer systems for storage technology and the extraction of oil and gas reservoirs.

Originally developed for ESK’s own requirements and now in tried and tested use by numerous customers for many years, ESK currently offers the following software products:
bohris.cloud
bohris.cloud is an ESK developed software tool that allows a standardised visualisation and documentation of the required well data (casings, well completion, well head and well barriers) regardless of the well's spud date and the quality of available documents. Technical details are usefully linked to the geological characteristics encountered during drilling (e.g. layer boundaries). The bohris.cloud software comes with a MAASP calculator and a risk assessment tool – two features essential to your well integrity management. Both fully comply with latest industry standards.
Key features at a glance
- Well data management
- Visualisation (well drawings and well barrier schematics) with just one click
- MAASP calculation
- Risk assessment
KAVPOOL
KAVPOOL is a software tool developed in-house by ESK to simulate all thermodynamic processes associated with gas storage operations in salt caverns. The software tool supports storage operators in their day-to-day business and assists subsurface engineers in planning and designing storage facilities.
The model incorporates all thermodynamic processes associated with gas storage operations in salt caverns. This includes:
- Pressure-volume-temperature relationship of the gas in the cavern
- Heat transfer between storage medium and surrounding rock
- Friction losses due to fluid flows along production tubing and connecting pipelines
Parallel to thermodynamic calculations, the rock mechanics option that was implemented provides information about the operationally induced shrinkage of each individual cavern at storage facilities.
The necessary model parameters, such as cavern and well dimensions, rock properties and gas composition, are entered via special auto-generate functions which guarantee quick startups even for storage sites with numerous individual caverns. All calculation results can be displayed in table and chart view.

Key features at a glance
- Forecast possible injection / production volumes on a given rate schedule (considering individual operational constraints)
- Identify hydrate formation conditions
- Forecast operational induced cavern convergence
- Guarantee compliance with defined operational limits
PORTEC
PORTEC is a material balance model developed in-house by ESK to simulate gas storage processes in porous rock formations (depleted or partly depleted hydrocarbon reservoirs, aquifer structures). The software tool supports storage operators in their day-to-day business and assists subsurface engineers in planning and designing storage facilities. PORTEC consists of three linked modules (reservoir, wellbore and above-ground facility), representing all relevant hydrodynamic and thermodynamic processes during injection, withdrawal and shut-in periods from the manifold to the reservoir and vice versa.

Key features at a glance
- Forecast possible injection/production volumes/rates considering individual operational constraints
- Optimise well and reservoir management
- Identify possible upside potential
