We have taken technical and organizational measures to ensure that the relevant laws on data protection and IT security are observed. Below you will find out what information we may collect and how we use it.
We generally use your personal data to answer your enquiry, process your order or provide you with access to special information or offers. Within the scope of a registration, contact request or similar, you can voluntarily provide us with your personal data. In this context, it may be necessary to transfer your data to a group company. Your data will not be transmitted to third parties outside the Group unless your inquiry or the service or product you have requested explicitly states so. You will then be informed accordingly. If you wish, you can also provide us with personal data about applications that are integrated into our platform (e. g. contact forms or services that require the creation of user accounts). The use of these applications may be subject to different terms and conditions from this Privacy Policy. Within the framework of additional data protection clauses, we will then explicitly point this out to you.
The privacy policy for the services offered by us can be found here:

Article 6 (1)(b) of the GDPR serves as the legal basis for the processing of personal data necessary for the performance of a contract to which you are a party. Insofar as we obtain the consent of the data subject for the processing of personal data, Article 6 (1)(a) of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) serves as the legal basis.

Log files and cookies

When you visit our website or access a file, data about this process is stored in a log file on our Internet server. This means that when you visit our website, data is automatically collected and stored that your browser transmits to us.

This is the case:
the domain name of the website you came from
the website you have visited in our offer
the names of the files retrieved
date and time of a call
the name of your Internet service provider
operating system and browser version of your PC.
Host name of the accessing computer (IP address),
language settings

This data is collected for security and statistical purposes as well as for the optimization of our website. This data is not assigned to specific persons and no combination of this data with other data sources is carried out. The data is stored for 6 months and then deleted. An exception is when there is a legal obligation to pass on data.
Cookies are text files, usually consisting of letters and numbers, which are stored on the user's computer when visiting our website. Through the use of cookies it is possible for us to extend the
functional scope of our offer, so that our internet offer can be designed as comfortable as possible for you.
So-called session cookies remain on your computer for the duration of your visit to our website. Persistent cookies are stored beyond your individual visit and are used for recognition during your next visit. Our website may also contain cookies from third parties. These are cookies, which are set by third parties when viewing the content of our website.
You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser, however please note that if you do this you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website.

Anonymization of the IP address

In order to enable you to use our website anonymously, we have deliberately refrained from logging IP addresses. We will pseudonymise your IP address before storing it in our web server log file in a data protection compliant process. The pseudonymised IP addresses are used by us, for example, to detect and counteract attacks or to create web statistics.

Google Analytics

Google Analytics
This website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service from Google Inc. (“Google“). Google Analytics employs cookies that are saved to your computer and enable analysis of your use of the website. The information generated by the cookie on your use of this website is in general transmitted to a server in the US and stored there. Through IP anonymisation on this website, however, your IP address is first truncated by Google within the member countries to the European Union or in other signatories of the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional circumstances is the full IP address transferred to a Google server in the US and truncated there.

Use of IP address
Computers and devices connected to the Internet are assigned a unique number called an IP address. Because these numbers are typically assigned in country-based blocks, an IP address can often be used to identify the country (state or city) that connects to the Internet using a particular computer. Google Analytics captures the IP addresses of website visitors. This allows website owners to analyse which parts of the world their visitors come from. This method is known as geo-targeting by IP addresses.
The actual IP address information will not be shared with Google Analytics customers by Google Analytics. In addition, the IP masking method is used: Website owners who use Google Analytics can set it to use only part of the data for geo-targeting instead of the entire IP address. Website owners generally have access to the IP addresses of their website visitors, regardless of the use of Google Analytics.
We use Google Analytics to analyze use of and to periodically make improvements to our website. Using the statistics acquired thereby, we are able to improve our website and make it more attractive to you as a user.
The legal basis for the use of Google Analytics is Art. 6(1) p. 1 lit. f GDPR.

On the website there is a contact form that can be used for electronic contact. Alternatively, it is possible to contact us via the provided e-mail address. If you contact us via one of these channels, the personal data transmitted by the data subject will be automatically stored. The storage serves solely for the purpose of processing or contacting. The data will not be passed on to third parties. It is forbidden to use the contact form or the blog for offences that are illegal or punishable by law. Misconduct is passed on by us to the competent authority for further investigation.

Links to external websites

Our website contains links to external websites operated by third parties, the content of which we cannot influence. For this reason, we cannot accept any responsibility for this third-party content. In each and every case, the third party making the linked website available or operating it is responsible for its content. When the link was created to these websites, they were reviewed as to whether they violated any laws. At the time the link was set, no content was recognizable that was in violation of the law. Furthermore, we cannot reasonably be expected to permanently control the content of the pages of third parties to which we have links if there is no concrete indication of a law being violated. However should any such violations of the law become known to us, we will remove the link in question immediately.

Your rights

You have the right to request free of charge information about your stored personal data and to object to the processing or use of your data, as far as this does not contradict the purpose (e. g. contract). In addition, you can assert your rights to block, delete and correct your personal data against us. If you have any questions or suggestions on the subject of data protection, please contact us at datenschutz.metering@westenergie.de or by letter to the above address.
